The Pearl Of Great Price
Rene V. Parault | July 2011
“Again the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls; Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.” Matt. 13:46
We observe the word - VALUE.
The kingdom of heaven and all that it contains is a kingdom of great value. This kingdom is the Lord’s domain and it is priceless with Godly treasures. This kingdom is forever. Everything in the kingdom is arranged by the King. There is love, peace, joy, order, and the richness of life that has been designed by God Himself. This kingdom has spiritual laws to obey, which are the laws of life. To live in His kingdom, is obeying His laws and direction. We cannot see this kingdom with natural eyes but through the Holy Spirit we enter this kingdom through repentance, receiving the King, Jesus, and being cleansed by His blood. We have now become citizens of this heavenly kingdom. We are delivered from the kingdom of darkness and have entered into the kingdom of His dear Son.
The above parable is to make us aware the great value of the kingdom of heaven, which surpasses anything here on earth. In the beginning of the early church, the apostles demonstrated the life of the kingdom. They had walked with Jesus, were taught by Him and after His ascension were baptized by the Holy Spirit in the upper room. When all the people saw them and heard them preach, they sold all that they had and laid it at the apostle’s feet because they were learning of a kingdom they had never heard of before. They gladly gave up everything they had, to be part of this kingdom and one with the King. They understood VALUE. Their lives had changed.
But over centuries of time until today, multitudes have received the Lord, but have put their heart on earthly values. This happens when they don’t value the true pearl; following their own self desires produces blindness to what is of worth. Following the dictates of a self centered heart leads them in the world’s path. These people profess holiness, but do not live in kingdom principles. They are ignorant to what they have been called into through Christ; divine life and godliness. Kingdom living demands a changed heart.
When we believe, we respond to the kingdom and respond to the King, we will grow into the Lord’s nature. We have discovered what is of value and through faith and obedience, follow His beckoned call leaving all behind. Will you look inward, what do you value the most? Would you - sell all you have? Follow Him to the uttermost? Have you found the pearl of great price? If you have, then you are on the path of holiness; living in His presence. Praise God!
