The Bowl

Honduras - June 2010

Upon hearing that there was a good opportunity to meet with the president of Honduras on our trip, June 2010, we went to purchase the gift that the Lord told me (Rene) to give him. This is what the Lord said to me; “I was to purchase a beautiful and expensive bowl and tell him it is from Me.” So with these orders off we went to an exclusive jewelry store in Tegucigalpa. There it was,a lovely, porcelain, hand painted bowl from Germany. On it was a beautiful scene of flowers. The art work was a copy from the 1600’s. The bowl was then placed in a box wrapped in gold paper, bows and ready to be presented to the President. We were soon presented an invitation to the Presidential Palace and were received by His Excellency, President Porfirio Lobo Sosa.

Accompanying us was Pastor Miguel Nolasco and son Mike, from Tegucigalpa.

Entering into his huge, magnificent office, we were seated and then the Lord shared many things with this man of authority. He was very gracious, receptive and spoke perfect English. We related to him about our work of 28 years in his country and our intercession for Honduras during her trials a year ago. We also shared the name the Lord gave to Honduras many years ago, which was Benjamin; a name from one of the tribes of Israel in the O.T. Scriptures were shared with the president and he also shared with us out of Isaiah 11.

We also gave him a short history concerning our personal life and that we were joined together in marriage in the mountains of Valley Bonito.

Then we unwrapped the present, and said to the president, “This is a gift from God. Not from John and Rene, but from God to you.” I (Rene) then took the bowl, and place it in the hands of the president and said, “God wants you to know that this bowl represents Honduras. She is beautiful, delicate and of great value. How you govern her will either keep her intact, or mar and crack her. Just like this bowl, wrongly taken care of will mar the bowl and destroy it; or properly taken care of, it will last a long time. So, placing your governing decisions into God’s hands for Honduras will be a blessing, but listening to negative outside voices that surround Honduras will bring her into bondage and will ultimately destroy (crack) her.” It was an awesome moment. He then looked at me and said, “You, place this bowl somewhere in my office.” I looked around, and then noted a place up by his prestigious desk. There were bookshelves filled with many books. President Lobo went and cleaned out some books on a lower shelf near his desk, and said, “Place the bowl here. Every time I look at it I will remember who gave it to me.” I then began to pray and know not what I said, for so great was the presence of God in that office. John also had an awesome prayer at the end. The president had tears in his eyes, and then said “When you return, you will find the bowl right here where it belongs.”

We had been obedient, walked in faith and grace, and God gets all the glory. We are ambassadors for the Lord. Mission accomplished.

Blessings.
