One of the chief reasons for a great deal of misapprehension concerning faith is not realizing how God (Elohim) created man. I really don’t think we have understood man’s inner constitution or nature, as we should.

From the beginning I want to set forth a foundational truth concerning the way God our Elohim created us. It is a foundation truth necessary for the understanding of faith. In it we can stand steady and firm in the face of our adversary when we are struggling in some crises when He speaks lies to us saying there is no faith in us. We must understand what we are by divine creation. Here is the truth, by a divine act we were created believers that is our spiritual nature or constitution. We see this clearly in what scripture declares.

Rom. 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Another translation reads. For, in heart, it is to be believed unto righteousness, and, by mouth, it is to be confessed unto salvation. EB This translation is saying we believe only in the heart, in other words believing takes place there.

In Scripture this word heart is used figuratively in most instances, being one of the richest terms for the totality of man’s inner nature. The heart then is spirit, the essential essence of man that comes from God. You cannot separate faith from the heart. When God birthed our inner being (our spirit) all the spiritual faculties of the heart, which is our constitution are there; then the capacity to believe was there. Therefore you can see that the constitution to believe comes with the heart. He is the Father of spirits. Heb. 12:9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? See vs.23. So He fathered faith as a function of the heart.

Then it’s not what we shall become it is what we are. We can become believers in God or lies, but not believers in nature. Then faith is innate meaning, inborn, inherent, and native in our heart forever, never to be retracted. What we must grasp is we will believe, we cannot help but believe, for it is our nature to do so. Therefore, we cannot become what we are.

Though we are born with faith as our nature it can be perverted for the heart can be perverted.

We can only exercise faith in the right or wrong direction. Faith is a moral choice. We will believe either the truth or lies? One direction of believing is sin the other is not. There is nothing else to believe.

We can’t loose faith and no one can take it away from us, but we can pervert it by the choice of what we will believe in the sphere of ignorance, disobedience and blindness. We can misdirect it and misuse it. Satan cannot not change what we are by nature only pervert it. This capacity to believe forever remains a divine ability with a divine purpose. The only way to miss that purpose is to believe lies.

The LORD spoke through me some years ago prophetically these words. “Your adversary must appeal to your faith to produce unbelief towards Me”. So He appeals to your faith with lies to produce unbelief, which is faith in lies. And if accepted your faith is perverted.

Heb. 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. Here is a perverted heart that can only disbelieve.

Matt. 12:35 The good man out of the good treasure of the heart doth put forth the good things, and the evil man out of the evil treasure doth put forth evil things.

Later in study book 3 we will continue to explore this subject of the heart and faith.

If this truth about our nature as believers is not seen we can have problems in our spiritual walk; because the enemy always desires to use ignorance to defeat us. If you believe you are as to your nature a believer and exercise it in God you will be a victor.

The capacity to believe in a man reveals the high order of his created being even though his faith is perverted as a lost sinner. The ability to believe puts him above all creation on earth. He was created to stand in God’s presence. The spirit of faith in those born of God’s Spirit reveals they are His sons by redemption whose faith has been restored to its true center, God Himself. In that He can realize the high order of his being. We were created in God’s image! That indeed is a high order that many are blind to. No other created being on this earth is in that image and no other has the capacity to believe God in all things and for all things but man. They are not even conscious of Him. It is understood that no animal has the capacity to believe God. They were not made in His image for relationship with Him. Neither can they sin for they are not moral creatures under command to be like the LORD.

Faith then reveals who we are. It is our spiritual DNA declaring the reality that we are spirits beings with a soul and a body created in God’s image with the capacity to believe. Faith in our nature proves we are related to the LORD and He is related to us and is the spiritual cement that binds the relationship of sons and the heavenly Father together.

Scripture says that faith is spirit. 2Cor. 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak. We will expound more upon that in another study.
